Your First Visit
Your first visit is called the initial consultation and the chiropractor will thoroughly assess your condition and provide a working diagnosis which will include a treatment plan.
The first step is to take a full history of your primary problem and overall health. Next, the chiropractor will conduct a postural, orthopaedic and neurological examination. After this, the chiropractor will review the findings with you and explain the best course of treatment. The first treatment is always carried out on the first visit unless there is a valid reason that treatment cannot be performed.
Type and Duration of Treatment
Chiropractic treatment is focused on restoring proper motion and alignment to the spine and other joints to relieve any irritation of adjacent nerves. This works to restore the normal movement of the joint, relax muscle spasm, and relieve strain on ligaments resulting in a better state of health.
Chiropractic adjustments are generally gentle, quick impulses applied to a joint to restore proper motion and alignment. There are many ways to adjust the spine and the most appropriate method will be chosen for each patient. There are some very gentle techniques, which require very little pressure, that can be used for children and the elderly.
In addition to the chiropractic adjustment, we utilise soft tissue and muscle treatment techniques as we believe this means you will get the most out of your treatment.
